Sports:

The Junior Varsity Boys’ Basketball team lost their last game, likely leaving them out of the playoffs after a successful season. The Junior Varsity Girls’ team, however, is first in their league and have begun their playoff games. Many students believe that they will win the school our first basketball trophy in years.

The Varsity Tennis Team has been revived, with practice starting this week on the 12th of February.

Events:

Last Thursday, February 6th, we had the Black History Month Assembly, which was hosted by the Black Student Union (BSU).  At this assembly, Brennan Forte, a Steiner alumni, poet, and social activist gave an inspiring speech about his experience as an African American.

Coming up on the 20th of February is the Steiner Coffeehouse, organized by the Events Committee. At this event, all high schoolers are invited to showcase their talents, such as playing an instrument, singing, reading a poem, and more.

Clubs:

The Green Club, mentored by Ms. Jaffe, has entered an environmental competition where they will propose a sustainable and regenerative idea and build a prototype. They will be submitting their model on Thursday.

Other:

Six of our students won an award in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, which were announced recently. Congratulations to Ishaan Shah, Townes Powell, Vincent Wei, Theodore Thompson, Luka Kuratchenko, and Tomas Bernales-Jabur for their excellence in drawing, sculpture, writing, and painting!
