This fall sports season was packed with a variety of achievements and important moments across all sports here at Steiner. Here is a rundown of how each team performed:
Cross Country
The Steiner cross-country team finished third in the league with a team of just five runners. Of those five, Cassius, Nico, and Alister qualified for the state ISAL Championship where they all placed in the top half of a competitive race of 250 participants. Cassius-the captain of the team- stood out by finishing 10th at this meet. The girls on the team, Esme, Malia, and Alana, also had an incredibly impressive season, placing in several races. They showed true team spirit when Alana sustained an injury during a race at Van Cortland Park, and the team
decided to walk the rest of the race with their injured teammate.
As a final note, Cassius shared encouragement for the team, reminding us to look forward to the track season in the spring and inviting any students interested to join the team or come support.
Girls Volleyball

The girls volleyball team ended the season with a 3-5 record, under the lead of captains Anna, Maddie, and Danica. At the close of the season the girls played a friendly match against Green Meadow where they secured a win ending the season in triumph. Another notable match was against Mcdowell, when one of our freshman players served 12 consecutive winning serves, finishing the game with a spectacular victory. Though overall the team’s performance didn’t meet their expectations, the team is excited for the future and encourages anyone interested to join next year!

Boys Soccer

The boys soccer team had a fantastic season, finishing at the top of the league standings. Although they lost in the playoffs, their performance was stellar, with Hugo Birdsall-Craycroft shining as the team’s top scorer, netting an impressive 16 goals. This season’s success sets high hopes for the team next year. Special shoutout to Alexander Beltran the team’s left back who has now completed his fourth and final season on the team.
In conclusion, best wishes to all our amazing senior athletes who played their final fall season at Steiner, and an massive congratulations to all the fall athletes that attended practices, traveled to games and meets, and gave their all this season.
Good luck to the athletes participating in the coming winter season. Go Dragons!
